There are four main currencies in the game. These are Clash of Clans Gems,Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir. The first three can safely be termed Resources. This means that you can mine, extract, or drill them, depending on the resource in question. The resources also must be stored.
Storage is important in Clash of Clans as you can only keep a very small amount of your resources in the resource collectors. Ensuring you have plenty of auxiliary storage means you are never wasting any of your hard work.
The more resources that you have in storage, however, the more there is for the enemy to steal when they raid your base.
The Treasury (stored in the Clan Castle) is a safe harbor for War Loot and Star Bonus loot. Now there is no need to fear those pesky raiders taking all your resources.
Clash of Clans Gems
Gems are the premium currency in Clash of Clans. This means that generally, in order to earn them, you have to spend real money. Gems are required primarily to avoid you havinng to wait for things to finish production. Clash of Clans is very stingey when it comes to Gems, as the wait times for the majority of things in the game are quite prohibitive.
Certain things can only be done with Gems, such as purchasing more builders. Gems are also given for completing achievements, with a certain number rewarded for each. This is the best way to get more. You begin the coc private server game with lots of them, so it can seem like you should be spending as many as you like – but early on especially you should save them and ignore when the Tutorial tells you to use them. You can also use Gems for purchasing a Shield, for 1 day, 2 days or 7 days. If you are impatient for resources, you can also purchase those.
Very occasionally, you will also unearth Gems when you clear up the stones, trees, mushrooms and stumps around your village.
TIP: By far the best thing to spend Gems on, if you have the patience, is Builders Huts – making sure you have 2, 3 and eventually 4 of these is undoubtedly the best way to go in terms of spending your Gems.
Clash of Clans Gold
Gold is indicated in Clash of Clans by a golden coin icon. To collect Gold from a structure, tap it when the Gold symbol is showing above it. You can see how much Gold you currently have by looking at the Gold Status bar on screen. You will need it to build and upgrade your defenses, your Town Hall, Walls, as well as other structures. Eventually you will need to expand your Gold storage to continue collecting it.
TIP: Be sure to upgrade offensive troops and all defensive buildings before upgrading to the next Town Hall level. DO NOT RUSH and upgrade the Town Hall early!!
The good thing about Gold as a resource is that you can use it to build walls incredibly quickly, and it’s also necessary to upgrade Elixir Collectors and Elixir Storage, defensive buildings and Walls, Traps, the Town Hall, and the Clan Castle. Bear this in mind when working out when to save it.
You can also use it to purchase Spells.
The main way to get Gold in Clash of Clans is to use Gold Mines.
Clash of Clans Elixir
Elixir is vital in the training of troops and is also required to be able to build many of the structures in the game. You will need it to upgrade your Barracks, for example, as well as Army Camps. It is indicated in Clash of Clans hack by a purple droplet icon. To get it, you have to ‘pump’ it from the Ley Line through the ground using a resource extractor.
Once an Elixir Collector is ready to collect, you will see a big Elixir symbol above it. Tap it to add the Elixir to your storage, if there is space. When your Elixir is at maximum capacity (you can see what this is by looking at the Elixir bar in the top right corner of the screen) you should consider building more Elixir Storage, where possible.
Elixir is used to upgrade Gold Mines, Gold Storage, Army Camps, Spell Factories, Barracks and Laboratories.
To get Elixir, you need to use Elixir Collectors.
